The West Point Challenger League is a baseball league for all children with disabilities in the Westmoreland area ages 5 - 18.
It was started in 2009 by Kim McDonagh and Rebecca Taylor.
The games are tee-ball or soft-toss style, and all the players are given a youth buddy to assist them during the game. The program is free thanks to the support of the West Point little League and Dick's Sporting Goods.
Equipment, uniforms and snacks are provided.
New players are welcome.
Please contact the Director at [email protected] if you are interested in registering.
Volunteer Buddies ages 12 -24 are needed to assist the players providing physical and social support during the games. Remember that you don't have to attend all the games - but we encourage you to attend as many as you can. We are happy with any time you can provide whether it is one game or all six!!
Your mentoring, instruction and friendship is invaluable to the challenger players giving them the chance to experience team spirit and sportsmanship. The feedback from the program last year was phenomenal and all this is due to the caring encouragement provided by our volunteer buddies!! Please contact the Director at [email protected] to join our volunteer contact list or if you have any questions regarding the program.
Games are on Sunday afternoons (Sept 11, 18, 25 and Oct 2, 9, 16) at 1:00. Please be there before 12:45 to get your buddy assignment.
Season will take place in Fall 2022. Check back for updates.
